Michel Dupont is a self-taught painter, sculptor and engraver born in Montreal in 1950. Printmaking was the starting point for this artist. In Europe, he is very stimulated but his encounter with Henri Baviera and his aesthetic approach at the Bernard Remusat’s workshop. Back home, he created his own technique somewhere between painting and printing to place the support at the center of his artistic process. He now begins by improvising a set of lines and forms the basic composition of the piece before adding colors, for there is no theory in his work. He takes pleasure in creating signs on paper to make the surface look unique and more dynamic.
